Chuck cappers use a pick and place cap transfer mechanism to transfer caps from the cap feed chute to the capping head or chuck. The chuck then descends onto the container and applies the cap with a precise cap torque. These cappers are suitable for operation up to 50 containers per minute.
The containers are indexed through the capper via a dedicated starwheel. The starwheel holds the containers on all sides making this system ideal for unstable or soft sided containers. Changeover is simplified, once the correct starwheel is installed, no further adjustments are required, and production can begin immediately.
Torque is applies by magnetic synchronous or hysteresis chuck which can be adjusted to a pre-set (scale) point which is repetitive. Judgment is eliminated in the set up, the correct set up will never change, the chuck does not wear and thus does not create particulate like the rubber pieces always found in inline cappers.
Cap feed can be from several sources, including overhead feeders, low level feeders, cap-sorting elevators as required for each individual application.
